The Ages of the Sea - a current Lisbon must-see

In the 25th of October was the great opening of the latest Calouste Gulbenkian Museum (Lisbon) exhibit, entitled: The Ages of the Sea.

This is a major painting exhibition (including two amazing illuminated manuscripts) which aims at expressing  the relationship of man with the sea, through six centuries of art, and how this element influenced the vision and the production of many different painters in western art.

This Gulbenkian exhibition is in fact a wonderful opportunity not only to discover many unknown artists in the seascape panorama, but also a way to visit and revisit great names such as Jan van Goyen, William Turner, Ingres, John Constable, Paul Signac, Monet, Caspar David Friedrich, Giorgio Di Chirico or even Edward Hopper.

Therefore, don´t miss this wonderful opportunity, only on till the 27th of January.

It´s always a great and nourishing experience just to let yourself go and get lost, for a couple of hours, among art and beauty. It´s actually food for the soul! :)

O passado dia 25 de Outubro ficou marcado pela inauguração da última grande exposição do Museu Gulbenkian, intitulada: As Idades do Mar.

Esta é uma grande exposição de pintura (incluindo porém dois fabulosos códices iluminados) que procura representar a constante relação entre o Homem e o Mar, ao longo de seis séculos de História da Arte, e como este elemento influenciou a visão e a produção dos mais variados pintores no contexto da arte ocidental.

Esta proposta do Museu Gulbenkian é, na realidade, uma oportunidade ímpar não apenas para conhecer artistas que anteriormente ignorávamos, no panorama da pintura de marinhas, como também uma possibilidade de visitar ou revisitar grandes nomes, tais como Jan van Goyen, William Turner, Ingres, John Constable, Paul Signac, Monet, Caspar David Friedrich, Giorgio Di Chirico ou mesmo Edward Hopper.

Desta forma, não percam esta grande oportunidade patente até dia 27 de Janeiro de 2013.
